  1. FYI, IMHO, the perfect combination: 1 STD 1.5 sail (B-Series preferably) 1 VTD 1.5 sail (B-Series preferably) 1 2 wrap frame 1 3 wrap frame 1 4 wrap frame 50# lines 90# lines With these, you can fly in anything from zero to 55mph.
  2. In my experience... Rev kites wind range Kite Frame mph REV 1 3-wrap SLE 3-25 REV 1 VENTED 3-warp SLE 5-30 REV 1 2-wrap 1/4'' 0-7 REV 1 3-wrap 1/4'' 3-12 REV 1 4-wrap 1/4'' 5-20 REV 1.5 SLE 3-wrap SLE 4-30 REV 1.5 SLE VENTED 3-wrap SLE 6-25 REV 1.5 SUL 2-wrap 1/4'' 0-8 But ugh, I wouldn't caught dead on an SLE... What about the other spar combinations?
  3. Try Hans from Team4Fun... hans.brenkman (at) wanadoo (dot) nl Great guy. He can put you in touch with everyone else.
  4. The old (2006) vented 1.5's were ripstop/mylar sails... Dig up some photos. I wouldn't replace the existing mylar panels with venting, not good a good layout. The two vertical strips on either side really do seem to work best.
  5. I really like the blue one, very nice. Wonder if Monkey is digging into his wallet as we speak?
  6. No wrath here. Everybody flies what they like!
  7. Acrobatx is definitely tricker, better with flat spins and advanced "slack line" stuff, but I got more broken spars and a smaller wind range with it. But, the Techno offers better lift in light winds, is quite a bit tougher, and offers better over all stability. I like both, but if I'm looking to learn slack line tricks, the Techno won't take me far enough. Click here for excellent tutorial examples of "slack line" tricks by Randy Greenway. If you don't mind it a little smaller, try the Jump by Level One for about $100... A little bit better full size kite, for $160 is the Silver Fox STD. Those are currently my top picks at those two price points.
  8. I like the Jump by Level One quite a bit, it has a permanent place in my bag... Runs about $100.
  9. Oh, he had claim on "twinkle toes" long before you dubbed me as such.
  10. Twinkletoes, huh... I dunno if Al Washington would go for it.
  11. Right side, 5th row, not counting the big pic at the top. Mmmmmm.
  12. Review of the Acrobatx.
  13. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy... It's almost time!
  14. Traditionally, between the last and second to last kites, I kept the bottom train lines 1-2" shorter... Seemed to cut down the wobble.
  15. Thanks Chris, it's a work of passion.
  16. ROFL Kent... Good one!
  17. You'll both do great, trust me! #1 skill in Rev team flying... Sense of humor. So by that measure, you both are pros already!
  18. Well folks, version 1 of the Rev Team Flying manual is finally ready! http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=359 If you're the least bit curious about flying Revs in team, this will be an invaluable resource that should be updated on a regular basis. Credits go to Mike Kory for the motivation, organization and manifestation for this resource... Proofing and support given by yours truly and iQuad.

  20. I'll be at Berkeley, end of July. Usually, I compete in masters quad, quad pairs and hot tricks.
  21. Silver Fox... I love mine.
  22. Yeah, Jim is top notch... And getting better on the Rev every time out. As for sharing info, it goes with the territory... It's our duty.
  23. A pigtail is a small loop of line... Cut a 6" piece of line (similar to your bridle material), fold it in half, and tie both the ends together in an overhand knot. This loop is then larks headed onto the spine, above the tip of the tail.
