  1. I used to have a huge amount if this but only with my SUL. I found that I didn't have enough brake and I was trying to "overdrive" the kite. Now I use a combination of moderate amount of drive and whump the sail. "5 miles per hour" as John puts it. I find that my lines are a bit straighter as a result too.
  2. Team, everybody thinks that they aren't ready. When West Australian and I started to fly pairs we got a few tangles and stuff. We joked it was becoming our signature move! But each time you both get better at avoidance. Don't ask, JUMP IN!!!
  3. A Fair Dinkum Aussie!
  4. G'day Tmadz, Did you end up getting any Brasso's? I like his deltas and the way they are so narrow and pointed. Not like any I have seen before. I am going to get a "Shintaro", really gothic looking. Kind of a angel of the underworld. Also considering, down the track a bit, a train of the "Heart of Darkness". Beautiful and elegant looking set. Rob
  5. The hot easterly breeze in the morning... the cool westerly in the arvo. Yep, summer is coming.

I hope those are good flying winds, Rob!

  6. Thanks. It really is an amazing work of flying art. I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't sell...I had dinner with Randy a couple weeks ago actually. Him and Ray Wong. They are both great people. Subscriber 1150 Name dropper...... Bloody nice kite though.
  7. I believe Polo (Polokites) has some great YouTube "how to" for this.
  8. I, for one, think it takes balls to state your intensions and to admit your weakness. Bravo. Sometimes a push can only come from "jumping". Keep up telling us your progress.
  9. .... and then fly??????
  10. I've been into "the prize cupboard"... after the kids grabbed all the cool stuff there wasn't anything left. But fear not John, we sorted out some "kites" for you. I'll be dropping them into the mailbox tonight. Flight not guaranteed but smiles are.....
  11. Probably best for me anyway, that way I can "moderate" what I am saying.....
  12. Live chat!!! Then I definitely wouldn't get any work done!!!!!!! Actually, it's a good idea.
  13. I was jealous BEFORE, then I took a closer look. Perfect white sand on a spur, water on 3 sides. Almost makes me want to move. Tell an Aussie something, from what I've learned from US TV shows isn't Florida where everyone retires.....? Really jealous of the marked spot. Have a ball all.
  14. G'day Brains Trust, Do you have insurance for when you fly? Is there specialty insurance for flying? I'm going to be getting around this summer and it has been a splinter in my mind for a while. I'm a member of the AKA but as I understand it, that is for sanctioned events. Happy to be corrected... There is no kite flying club in this state as there is some sort of public liability associated with them. Again, not sure if I join a club in another state I may get coverage. Have to look into that. I know performers at events are usually covered by the event liability. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  15. Yep, sorry. I forgot to say I use the 11" handles with it. I'm a big believer in "use what works for you"! As I only have the Standard sail B2 I need to move my leaders in and out a bit. Funny story about over controlling, I pulled up at my local oval about 2am and blindly grabbed my gear to fly my B2. The wind was high teens in mph, and I mistakenly grabbed my 15" handles to fly it on my 30' lines! Wow, talk about twitchy! Great fun but I'm a little more careful as I felt like I'd had a couple of Red Bulls after.
  16. Dial in a heap of brake for your B2. I put an extra couple of knots compared to my 1.5's. One time I ran out of leader knots so quickly added some bottom leaders from another set of handles to the tops. The wind was really cooking that day!
  17. Taking notes. I didn't know that you could get a French bridle for B2 size!
  18. Hey Paul, what type of B2?
  19. If it's a bit overwhelming to count, send a bag to me and I'll count it.... Very.... Slowly...
  20. Aint no shame in checking the bridle, often....
  21. Mid vent, is a great gap filler but most say it's not necessary. If you want to maximise the middle winds. If you want to NOT have to swap out frames. If you want a sweet looking triple stack. I love mine, it sees more use comparatively than my Std and Vtd. I do have a PoloVTD which is like an XTRA though. If you have a PRO colour scheme chosen, get you mid as a Pro. You know you want to..... Just one more, my Std, Mid and Vtd are all the same colours so when I upgrade it might be easier to sell as a package.
  22. Sweeeeeet! Ain't nothing like throwing a kite around after midnight. "After midnight, I'm gonna let it all hang out" Glad you're having fun with your B2.
  23. Thanks. I was just wondering how to retro fit one of these.
  24. Aren't Shanti lines yellow? I swear in the pics I've seen they are yellow! I've seen orange (Climax) and green (Vector) lines too.
  25. I like how you said "yet"! The Zen is certainly nicer than I deserve....I hope to earn the right to carry it around in my Rev bag one day. Subscriber 1150 The Zen doesn't go with how I like to fly, fast and flailing! I do think it will be good for my growth as it will make me slow down and be a bit more temperate with my inputs. Did I just justify THAT purchase......?
