  1. Very cool kite Stephen! Great packaging, SO simple to assemble and fly... Never mind the fact it's beautiful to look at! I found the Bai is not as floaty as the cellophane fighter/floater I've been using in my routines up until now (yes - a little more activity in the shoulder and arm), but the controllability, slack line and 3D potential is phenomenal. Pedro and Esteban did a great job of getting it out into everyone's hands... Can't wait to get out and play with it more myself, will tell you what I find.
  2. It's normal for lines to stretch the first few times out, they should settle in after a few more flights.
  3. I would think that's a good price, if the sail is in good shape. Come with handles or lines, original frame?
  4. Browndude, if you're looking for your last post here, it's been moved... http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1720 It was a new topic, and unrelated to this thread.
  5. The calendar is open to anyone, go for it... http://kitelife.com/forum/index.php?act=ca...;formtype=range The "add" link is found in the bottom right corner of the calendar page.
  6. Remember, when all else fails Dave, have fun... That may sound cliche, but it's not. We already have enough stress in our lives so at the times I've found myself getting to nervous and/or sloppy, I've gotten into the habit of reminding myself to be relaxed, to trust in the skills I've gained so far... On top of that, you can probably take comfort in the fact "this won't be the last competition", and you'll be able to take your experiences into the next event or category. If you did indeed have a good time, then you're sure to come back for more. Also something that really helped me, talk to the chief judge, or other respected judges on each panel that judged your individual events (ballet, precision, etc)... They'll generally be happy to provide constructive feedback... It's up to you to ask in such a way that they don't feel put on the spot, and that you simply absorb the information given to you without being offended. I've found a lot of personal growth in sport kite competition, to me it's an honorable, clean and creative sport.
  7. Hi John, a couple of related posts on the Rev forum that may apply... http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=550 http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=456 These will apply to either dual or quad line.
  8. Toyguy, I can't stress enough... When you receive the SLE, after trying it as is, also try extending the top lines by about 4" or so, and let us know what you think.
  9. The only PAPER/PRINT magazine still in print for kites that I'm aware of is the AKA's Kiting magazine. For info about the AKA - http://aka.kite.org/?mbrship.shtml Also, we do have our own ezines (produced since 1998), plus the Kite Lines and SKQ archives.
  10. Wicked, you found a good deal on the SLE.
  11. Cutting surface for fabric.

    Help!

Nope, hadn't heard about that... But it is something I could have missed, haven't spent much time there this year. Elmer's would probably be equipped to answer that question more accurately.

    Help!

I sure do, it's my "home field" whenever I'm in town... What do you want to know?
  14. Ah, I understand... I've seen him demo before, that's why my curiosity was piqued.
  15. Toyguy... You realize, the SLE with a 3 wrap LE is actually likely to cost a little more than the B-Series? Ideally, the B-Series package is a little less expensive, comes with both 2/3 wrap, and adjustable handles. Check around.
  16. Even more important than swapping the leading edge for 3 wrap... 1. Get adjustment knots on your handles. 2. Ensure all four lines are the same length. Although an SLE is still harder to control than the slimmer rods, proper tuning makes it tolerable.
  17. Very fun, thank you!
  18. Rock on John, welcome to the forum. Also, try - http://www.revkites.com/forum
  19. That Silver Fox UL is stock, 3 point bridle setting, 3 weights (same size as it comes with) on the tail, with the nose pulled in about 1/8" (bridle points moved up). I also cut the plastic beads off the bridle, just to reduce the weight a little more.
  20. The comp vid page are all files stored on Kitelife's server... The others are on YouTube, and functioning fine. Hrm?
  21. Well folks, I am very sorry to report... The Red Bull kite show for San Diego has been canceled due to organizational issues with the local Navy base. Perth is reportedly guaranteed to happen, and word from the Red Bull offices shows our chances of being a part of Red Bull's Air Races next year as being quite good.
  22. Hrm, good question... I'll have to check, the time stamp is probably right.
