  1. A half-inch difference in position will make a dramatic difference. You are actually decreasing the length of one leg by 1/2", and increasing the length of the other leg by the same amount. So the cumulative change is one inch. It is recommended to make adjustments in increments of 1/4" until you gain enough time-on-the-lines to instinctively position the adjustment as you are setting up.
  2. Oh -- Oh. Next thing you know you'll be looking to buy a Zen! Once you get used to the bigger sails.....
  3. Hi Paramedic. I fish and I fly kites. Both are something I spend countless hours doing each year. Fishing line and kite line are made for two different things, and although a couple or three properties are desirable for each, the other five are not. Stretch characteristics, type of weave, direction/angle of braid, coatings, etc., are different enough so that although one can be substituted for the other in a pinch, the one specifically made for the purpose at hand will outperform the other. Basically the same as the difference between a spoon and a fork. The one designed for liquids works better than the one for solids, and vice versa.
  4. I had no internet for about two months, so even though this is a bit late, I hope it is still useful. Just need to remember one thing: Sand is what sandpaper is made of! Whatever you don't want sanded, protect.
  5. I'm in. Finally got my internet back. Just in time to win this one. Yaaaaayyyyyy!
  6. Mike, it's not a vented sail. What looks like vents is grey panels on a standard sail. Therefore, since you no longer want it, I'll be happy to take it instead.
  7. Congratulations.
  8. Congrats, better late than never. Had internet issues, but now I'm back.
  9. Sounds like malware to me. Don't open or save it. Just close the window. Scan your computer with Microsoft Security Essentials or Malwarebytes, or any anti-virus/anti-malware software you have.
  10. Estimated crowd of 30,000 over 2 days at KOLM last September, packed like sardines! The crowd is what makes the show, they are the inspiration and the end product. Congrats on you debut -- good show.

  12. Two is a pair. Three is a stack. Mwaaahaaahaaa! Item # 161969587497 on eBay.
  13. I believe that if you go to a thread and then back out (go to previous screen) instead of moving to the next (elsewhere) it will show unread, because the previous was unread when you got there. Try selecting another instead of backing out. That may do the trick.
  14. I believe the compulsories and the sequence are selected before the event and the field judge informs the pilot of which figure is next. I haven't competed, but I'm sure JB or someone who has will probably chime in on this.
  15. I believe it is intended as a low-wind kite, designed strictly for that purpose. No intent to vent it, just as unnecessary as venting an indoor.
  16. I'm more interested in the sail loading mechanics than the panel layout, although I do like it.
  17. Just fly it outside. You'll have plenty of opportunities. Adjust your sail.
  18. Borrow someone's 2 or B2 if you can. Where the frame flexes a lot in the vids you've seen, the pilots are exceeding the recommended wind range. With enough experience you develop a feel for how much the kite can handle before things start snapping. The verticals can be the Zen rods, or something lighter than whatever is in the LE -- if the combo makes sense for a specific reason, use it. Mix and match different combos. You will learn a lot about what makes a Rev hum.
  19. Actually, what hyzakite said is GOLDEN! Fly a B2 for 3 or 4 hours and then switch to a 1.5 -- that's exactly the way a Zen feels after flying a 1.5, only twice as much.
  20. As Wayne mentioned, the Zen will exaggerate all the flaws in your flying technique, and with time spent flying it, will help to decrease or eliminate them. This makes it a valuable tool in improving your skills. However it does take some determination to continue using it for that purpose when other sails can be flown instead. If you are "fast and furious" with a kite, it may not be as much fun for you to fly it. This kite is slow and graceful, even on shorter lines; I like to fly mine on 40ft x 50lb lines in very light wind with the standard Zen frame. I wouldn't really call the feel of that set-up rubbery or spongy, but rather that it requires early inputs and early ends to inputs, to accommodate its size. It takes a while for the mind and body to connect with this kite, but in my opinion it's worth the effort.
  21. Congratulations -- if you need help, just post up. Remember, the sticks go on the back.
  22. Cool! That's a long walk from the handles to the kite. Looking good.
  23. Hi, Andy -- good to have you on board. Looking forward to flying with you someday.
  24. Sweeeet!
  25. These handles don't match. They appear to be from different production runs, judging from the tube diameter, the wrap spacing on the tubing and the color/finish and gauge of the hog rings. Did you purchase this set used? Even the vinyl caps and the top and bottom leader braid don't appear to match. Really good detail on the photos. Easy to see the differences. I think you received a mismatched pair.
