  1. tape and stitches is the best option
  2. turning back to dual is any time possible but starting dual to eventually fly quads is wrong. dual and quad are compatible just because both need wind. Mechanics and fly them are totally different. at dual you use the arm length to turn at quads one of the bottom lines.
  3. bring her to, dark side is deeeeeep !!!!!
  4. 19,45 to 19.52 minutes actually. i was close to bet on Paul LeMasters knowing is his preferred flying spot
  5. i live in Chicago and i do not have any plans for 6-7 July so.. let's meet at the middle, Bloomington Maxwell Park let say and i will pass you some tricks showed to me 3 years ago, thank you makatakam.
  6. really good points exposed already Mojo and Volsk are out of question for a beginner and personal i will add Eliot. you have another cheap option what require a bit of work for you. Buy from EBay a Chinese quad, you will find 3-4 different models, after this buy a Revolution bridle or go beyond that and order a 1.5 French bridle. Chinese quad may come RTF , the handles are good but change the lines. do this and you will have a quad better then EXP really close then 1.5
  7. if i remember correctly they announced the closing of the site on top of every page starting with February or March. is sad to be closed a such great source of information end let's hope people from GWTW will migrate here
  8. khsidekick on Iphone PDF is not accepted if you do not have a third party app installed ore downloaded on Ibooks . Try to see the attach on to an Android or PC
  9. like for all quads check to have all lines equals. next step is to have the right setup to the handles ore to the multi point setup of bottom lines , to much breaks will make the kite to not launch ore on your case to not reach the top of the wind window. another important aspect of control and fly is the multi bridle to not have tangles ore twists. any twist in bridle change the shape of the sail and that affect the fly
  10. more then Icarex try to research the frame. is 100% sure to break before Icarex to be 50% stretched. Also if you will do the build research the tread you will use.this is another thing what will break especially to a big dimensions kite
  11. by selves it is, solid white paired with solid black and doted with doted. On top of that the title is stated quad
  12. search " cirque du soleil kite "
  13. will not work with any soft tubes especially paper and cardboard witch are sound absorbents and are not ridge enough to create reverberations . find a wood tubes ,bamboos, reeds, cane ore easier and probably a cheat buy a pan-flute
  14. you may use the truck but is good to have a second and/ore third anchor point. Creating multiple anchors points give you the peace of mind and increase the safety especially with big kites. also on the beach keep the sand constantly wet, that that add significant mass and prevent the bag to rollover. a good idea is to have the sand bag buried, will be easier to be fill up and is adding some all around side pressure
  15. usually recommendation line is 1/3 stronger then maximum puling so... if recommendation is 4400 Lbs that means that kite may lift 3000 Lbs. beware at anchors
  16. how far is an easy answer. stratosphere and if you will hit that nothing will keep that kite anchored assuming you don't loosing it at around 1500 fits
  17. if is overhearing may plunge really fast on the ground because is loosing the tow point witch is keep the kite on floating . you may correct that making an adjustment to the bridle to stay more in the wind (moue tow point closer to the tail) ore attaching a longer/heavier tail and this will require a heavier wind to fly the kite
  18. just from hearing "drag around" i expect you to use at least 300 Lbs lines because otherwise you will need another line set a the first gust IMO
  19. videos are good but the best way is to find a flyer ore a group close to you and meet with. they may correct your wrong flaying habits and taught you the timing of movements.
  20. to give you the answer to the second question about lines i will add to Wayne this: the body weight of flier is important just if the kite is a powerful one ore is having a big wingspan and may drag the pilot. Lines are the ones who are make the difference in amount of dragging the kite may take and this is usually dictated by the wind conditions. all kites are having a low and a high wind tolerance, higher the wind stronger the lines. a second thing to take in consideration when you pick your line strength is the length of the lines. longer lines require usually more strength because you will encounter stronger wind on top of the wind window
  21. is happening especially in high winds. last year on one session i do not pay attention to this and i cut the leading edge spar from a Rev I equipped with 2 wraps
  22. i am sorry to hear this and i hope the best for all three of you
