I am a four sting fanatic. (censored title) and a veteran flier of 15 + years. A proud member of Kitefliers anonymous where all our meetings are held on the beach. Oh, and I'm female. Not a lot of those out in the kite world. Welcome! BB Penny

Line Length for Quad Precision and Ballet
Penny Lingenfelter replied to Red Doug's topic in Quad Heads
$50 lb's scares me. I am way to hard on my quad for 50lb. I'll stick with 80-90 lb. The weight doesn't appear to give it the lag as much as the length does. Of course John isn't known for kicking and dunking his kite every chance he gets. -
I have to agree that Scott is one of my all time favorite Rev fliers. Is it his handle or his adjustments? It's like he told me, if the adjustments/bridle were lost he'd be lost trying to get that reverse back. I dind't notice that his handles were extra long. Longer then the normal SUL handles? If all goes well, I should see him in Michigan in October. I'll double check those handles. BB Penny

Do you need more reverse control? BB Penny

Line Length for Quad Precision and Ballet
Penny Lingenfelter replied to Red Doug's topic in Quad Heads
At the ocean the longer lines are nice, but inland the 75-80 ft. is good for normal quad flying w/out the line lag. 120 for team is great. BB Penny -
But he never played in the water. BB Penny wishing she could get her shockwave out.

Seaside, Oregon Sept 9th & 10th, 2006
Penny Lingenfelter replied to The Kite Shoppe's topic in Scheduled Events
There was an indoor last year... kinda sorta... no key showed up, but we all stood around and wished we could get in. lol Hey, I picked up some of the lights w/rubber bands on them at the $1 store. $1 for 4. Way kewl. I can't wait to try them. BB Penny -
Way to go Tristan! I'm sure it's the first of many such events. Congrats! BB Penny

We spent years standing like with handles in hand and the kite parked like a carrage waiting for wind. I'm so glad I learned to no wind fly. The anticipation for twighlight when the wind usually dies and I can go play in the road. BB Penny

I've tried a few handles 16" maybe 21" too. Those types of lengths are usually used with stacks of Rev's. I'll keep the SUL handles and love the lighter graphite handles. But I'll bet you'll be able to trick a rev more w/longer handles, but they should be sensitive. BB Penny

This is when I'm glad I fly my 1.5's without bridles and use the slide knot on my handles for adjustments. BB Penny

Tristen is entering the quad field~ We already know he can fly quad. I gave him a lesson some years ago and he had no problem. Look out, now he's going to make it fun and take it seriously. Tristen has a competitive's soul and a champion's heart. Look out world here he comes! BB Penny

You know when we talk about soul flying it's generally in reverance to us flying our kite and finding that sense of peace. Actually single line kites or just having banners and kite art on the ground keeps people smiling and soaking it all in too. Even the crowds feel a little soul flying. BB Penny

Everytime you go back it gets easier and then for the next 20 years you can say, "Next year I'm going to get good" because you never have to quit learning on this kite. I want to play more with the UFO too. I heard Lee Sedgwick was flying it quaded with a steering well. How kewl would flying a quad be like that? Enjoy~ BB Penny

As one of the original "Llama's Angels" I highly suggest you do so. heheheh Now Amy~Kirsten~ and I, are ~grounded Angels~ or fallen Angels~ or Develish Angels~ or Arch Angels~ or Hell's Angels~ or Amy... what are we again? Any way's I don't think we're exactly Angels. We're good people, and the devil made us do it~or is that Carl K-B? The bumper sticker is in color too. White, yellow, red and black. I like it. I need more of the "quadagruven" bumpersticker and I have to have an "iquad" bumpersticker. Great graphics. BB Penny

Yes, thank you Kitelife and Geezer. I'm thinking expecially thank you Geezer for the photo essays! You know John was having so much fun sharing what he brought back from Europe that he didn't have much time or energy left to trek back and forth through the miles of deep soft sand. Soft sand is a dirty word. Back and forth in deep soft sand is exhausting. Maybe that's one of the reasons people find peace at the ocean? The exercise wears you out. In any case. If I'm correct in assuming someone crossed those fields without a kite in hand (eewww) and it was Geezer, then we owe him a big round of applause. The only way Kitelife could even begin to cover the whole event is to have those extra writers and photographers sending things to the webmaster. It may be used, or not, but it is appreciated. Anybody out there have pictures send them to webmasterkitelife[dot]com (change the for @ and [dot] for . - this discourages spam bots) I wish I was a photographer or a story teller, but I'm just a kiteflyer. I know Kitelife is a team effort. John is just to good a kiteflier not to be on the field. We learned more during WSIKF this week then we had in some years. Thanks John and Monkey. I've played with other teams like The Decorators, Two Much Fun and just years of playing with groups of other Rev Kitefliers. All with great flying skills and styles. This year finally some instructions that kept it easy for everyone. Moves and formations, instructions that make it possible to play with other Rev fliers and look marvelous. lol Later Rev teams will take these same formations and Revolutionize them. Pivoting up, Snap turns across, etc. I love that this sport is so evolving. Thanks again John, Geezer, T, and even Monkey Boy! Wowzer!!! Amy's fantastic designs and banners!!! What a great job! She made the big top to your circus. Rev On! Ok, I'm going to forget someone on the field, but I've got to go. It was a marvelous Long Beach Experience! BB Penny

hey Anthony, I think you could request a white in any size. Probably considered a custom kite, but well worth it. Good luck. BB Penny Did I ever look for the addy?

I see reverse launch, so it must be a quad. Hey Grandpa, It could be that one handle is being pressed down more then the other and the back handle is pulling the bottom tip out of the sky. Sometimes less push is better in lighter wind. Try to hold your hands still when this happens to determine what's wrong. If it's not a small wing wrap, which also happens a lot and is hard to see, then you should be able to look at the handles and see how you directed the kite. Good luck! BB Penny

In the past I read where people said kite flying was almost spiritual. I said that in an interview for the Portland TV station last weekend. I can't belive I said it! But it's true. Entertaining angels, talking to your higher power. and even a tug on the line that sends it falling to the ground. I didn't do that this time? Kites tug on our hearts. I feel closer to god on the field then in church. My new bumper sticker "WWJF What would Jesus Fly?" I've seen more people zoom their camera in on that bumpersticker then any other. To each thier own. BB Penny

Do we need 4 different sleeving colors? Color doesn't concern me because my lines are the same length. If the ends are larks headed together and you attach them to a handle and attach them to the kite it's connected to one side of the kite. When you pick up the handles again just shake it and you can determine if it's the left or right. I always check this whenever I pick my kite back up. I do usually attach the last alphabet of the colors to the bottom of the handle..... ie. green/orange.. O being the last letter of the alphabet between the two and it goes on the bottom. Since I do have various colored sleeving over the years, I've learned to adapt. Parking my Rev upside down. Leading edge on the ground, and stake my handles with the top of the handles around the stake so a wind or person can't easily launch it accidently. Now when I go to attach the lines to the kite I know that the longer of the two lines is the bottom line. WaLa! BB Penny

Dog Staking~ You can use the rope on the field too. Indoors use the hoop, or volley ball pole to dog stake off of inside. Connect up high indoors. BB Penny

I like new age music, though Yanni is to busy for me. Innovators, Ray Lynch type music. Shania Twain or Whitney Houston to kick back and play. The music that I play and relax with is totally different then show music. It has to be a mix of slow and fast songs. After Long Beach I went down the beach on Monday, cranked up my music and flew for meeeee! Total Satisfaction. Now whose got a smoke? BB Penny

thanks JD. It was nice sharing your birthday with you. One day you'll be the old codger saying,"I remember when" BB Penny
